IPI Advisor Roundtable
February 05 2008 · Harvard Club—New York City
This Advisor Roundtable will review important events that took place in 2007 and discuss their implications for 2008 and beyond.
We will discuss the eight most important factors that will shape the economy in 2008, including Fed policy, consumer spending, the housing market, the dollar and trade, energy, interest rates, inflation and politics. We will also look back at 2007, particularly from the perspective of hedge fund investing. Last year saw what can go right and what can go terribly wrong for hedge fund strategies. From spectacular returns achieved by shorting sub-prime to equally spectacular blow-ups that resulted from long-term investments being funded by short-term borrowing, the common denominator was the importance of understanding risk.
In this session, Chip Norton and Steve Togher will review important developments in 2007 and will share their insights about what we may expect to see in 2008.
