Charles (“Chip") Roame
| Charles ("Chip") Roame is the Managing Principal of Tiburon Strategic Advisors and a leading strategic consultant to CEOs, other senior executives, and boards of directors in the brokerage, investments, wealth management, banking, insurance, and family office markets. Prior to forming Tiburon in 1998, Mr. Roame served in similar capacities, first as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, and later as the vice president of business strategy at Charles Schwab & Company. Mr. Roame is quoted daily throughout the media and, due to Tiburon's widely shared research, he may be the most frequently demanded conference speaker, giving 75+ speeches each year. His particular expertise is that of corporate strategy for larger financial services firms, designing broad multi-faceted strategies and making trade-offs between alternative businesses, products, and markets. Immediately prior to forming Tiburon, Mr. Roame was a business strategist at Charles Schwab & Company. At Charles Schwab, Mr. Roame played a key strategic role in the mutual funds, financial advisor, and online brokerage businesses. Along with many more specific projects, Mr. Roame led the teams that refined Schwab's firm-wide strategy in 1997-1998 and its advisor business strategy in 1996-1997. Prior to joining Schwab, Mr. Roame was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company from 1992-1995, where he developed corporate, product, and market strategies for financial services companies in New York, Sydney, London, Frankfurt, and Mexico City. He worked with clients such as Merrill Lynch, American Express, Prudential Insurance, and the AMP Society (Australia). From 1988-1992, Mr. Roame helped develop Kidder Peabody's Asset Management Group, including the GE-Kidder family of mutual funds. Mr. Roame earned an MBA from the University of Michigan in 1988. Mr. Roame has served on a variety of boards, including previously serving on the board for start-up venture Prima Capital and as a trustee of the SA Funds. Mr. Roame's ability to add value to financial services boards comes from his depth of strategic, distribution, product, manager, and business consulting experiences at Tiburon, and in previous roles at Charles Schwab & Company and McKinsey & Company. Mr. Roame has won numerous awards throughout the consulting and financial services industries, including being named one of the twenty-five most influential people in financial planning by Investment Advisor magazine (2005).
