With approximately $50 billion in platform assets, Fortigent offers capital markets analysis, asset allocation advice, model portfolios, money manager search, selection, and due diligence, and comprehensive technology and performance reporting solutions to banks, trust companies, and registered investment advisors. Our Rockville, MD headquarters has an immediate need for an experienced .Net developer.

Our SCRUM based software development life cycle applies iterative agile-based development concepts in a small team environment. We use a continuous integration and build approach with an emphasis on automated unit testing.

Role Overview

• The .Net Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and configuration of .NET based applications for both Intranet and Internet environments.
• All systems are build upon .NET 4.0, SQL Server 2008 and utilize a variety of technologies including MVC, LINQ, Entity Framework, and JQuery.

Experience

• At least 5+ years experience as a software engineer utilizing Microsoft .NET technologies preferably in .NET 3.5 and 4.0 frameworks.
• Looking for someone experienced in web-based solutions, particulary in use of MVC, JQuery, AJAX, CSS, and Razor. Skills in page layout and design and contruction of themeable controls would also be helpful.
• Although web-based experience is required, strong fundamentals in basic OO design principles is also important. Candidates should be able to demonstrate core principles of code reuse and extensibility, as well as some comfortability with various design patterns and their usage.

Core Skills

• Object Oriented programming experience in .Net a must.
• Solid understanding of OO principles, familiarity and experience in applying design patterns, and general knowledge of core principles of code reuse, maintainibility, and extensibility of solutions.
• Knowledge in skill in unit testing with nUnit.
• Solid SQL understanding and some experience writing and tuning SQL queries.
• Hands on web development skills including HTML, Javascript, CSS, AJAX, and Jquery.
• Experience with MVC 3.0.
• Experience using ORM tools such as nHibernate and/or Entity Framework.
• Experience with integrated build environments such as Team City / TFS / Cruise Control preferable

Director of Consulting

We are embarking on a new era in the history of the company and are poised for dramatic business growth. The Director of Consulting will manage existing advisor relationships and assist the Regional Director in transitioning and implementing new relationships. The Director will build the service platform to enhance the company’s offerings of wealth management, consulting and performance reporting services. He/she will focus on retention of current advisors, increased revenue and scalability. The Director is responsible for the supervision and leadership of a team, managing the overall productivity and output of all direct reports. He/she will manage employees related to performance planning, mentoring, coaching, career development and role development. The Director will facilitate and lead training sessions for new Fortigent clients during the transition stage and will lead meetings and calls for clients on investment, reporting, practice management or industry issues. The Director will oversee conversion of historical data, account on-boarding and initial setup of performance reports. He/she will provide support of software development projects and requirements-gathering for those projects. The Director will provide business acumen to Fortigent Advisor clients and will demonstrate a mastery of portfolio operations, as well as a mastery/solid knowledge of investment analytics and performance reporting processes. He/she will formulate and apply data analysis and information used for decision making by management and will be responsible for managing internal projects for the Advisors from inception to delivery, including follow-up. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Finance plus five years of progressive business experience is required. Experience must show a background in project management, financial performance, analysis and data conversion. Strong analytical skills are required , as is intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite tools, particularly Excel.
